Before — This small lake cabin was situated on a lot with a larger, newer home. The home owner considered rebuilding, but local building codes prevented anything other than enhancing the existing structure on the existing footprint. This decaying building with a poorly designed roof met it's salvation just in time or it may have been lost for viable use.

After — What started out as a small-scale "repair" project, ultimately turned into a substantial second-story addition and remodel. Despite the fact that we had limited prior experience with log-type construction, we applied our skills as craftsman and our talents in the research arena to find the appropriate materials and methods. As a result, the new blends seamlessly with the old and creates that comfy north woods feel that the homeowner longed for. By adding the 2nd story, we were able to resolve the roof issue and create a new sleeping space and 3/4 bath, so the "cabin" could be used as a cozy guest house.
