Before
The existing 1960s split entry home on a ten-acre
hobby farm had small, dark spaces. The style was dated and contrary
to the owners taste. In addition, there was no connection between the
driveway and the front entry. Our clients had considered new construction,
but they loved the placement of the existing home on the surrounding
ten-acre hobby farm. The decision was made to work with the existing
structure, but remodel the entire house and add an addition to accommodate
the growing family.
After
The new cottage-style exterior suits the homeowner's
taste and blends beautifully with the rural setting. Expanded room sizes
and a more open layout add greater flexibility. Lots of windows help
bring the rural setting in and flood the space with natural light. The
new great room is airy and spacious and more in keeping with the family's
lifestyle. A large master bedroom suite offers privacy and functionality.
In addition, parking, garage space and accessibility were all improved
by repositioning the front entry and rebuilding the garage.
